The American skate shoe company has created a fantastic new footwear capsule celebrating the upcoming Chinese Year of the Horse.

Vans Classics has created a four-piece collection for Chinese New Year 2014. The “Classic & Year of the Horse Collection” is launching across Asia-Pacific beginning last week and will continue till January.

The line was released on Dec 20 in China in red, blue, and pink colourways, in both men’s and women’s sizes. An exclusive black version will also hit select stores on Jan 1, 2014.

According to the brand, the Chinese zodiac horse is all about “following one’s path, unrestrained expression, and freedom.” Designed in a classic Vans hi-top shape, the shoes give nod to the animal with a faux horse-hair effect, a leather heel counter and a horseshoe print on the waffle sole.

Fifteen different creatives representing a range of young Chinese talent including Zhang Jiayi and Cherry Gun out of Beijing, shoe designer Kim Kiroic in Shanghai and hip-hop artiste Kafe He from Chengdu are also contributing to the project with a range of collaborative work.

The sneakers are currently on sale at Vans retailers in Asia-Pacific for about US$115 (RM356). — AFP Relaxnews
