A list of the most fabulous, fashionable creatures of all time.
IN conjunction with Halloween, we uncover the most fashionable monsters in films and TV. Now’s your chance to dress up as any of them, and look scary yet stylish!
1. Morticia Addams
Best epitomised by: Angelica Huston in The Addams Family (1991) and Addams Family Values (1993)
Morticia, who always wears all-black ensembles and her hair long and straight, represents goth as its best. As the matriarch of the Addams family, Morticia is an exemplary mother, and she and husband Gomez remain passionate towards each other. This family comprises monsters, but they are so well-coordinated in terms of their dressing.
Best epitomised by: Jonathan Rhys Meyers in Dracula (2013)
This newest incarnation of Dracula on television introduces the best-looking Count of all time. With his razor-sharp cheekbones and an affinity for well-tailored suits and luxe accessories, it’s no wonder the women fall at his feet.
Best epitomised by: Kate Beckinsale in the Underworld film series
She’s a Death Dealer bent on destroying the Lycans who allegedly killed her family. To her many, many male fans, Selene (as portrayed by a sexy Kate Beckinsale) can do no wrong in her tight leather suits. And her make-up is water-proof and always camera-ready.
Best epitomised by: Natasha Henstridge in Species (1995)
Hmm, OK, so Sil is naked most of the time in this movie, as the alien searches for a man to mate with (then later kills). But when she throws on a dress to go on her quest, she rocks the outfit. It helps that Henstridge looks like a supermodel.
5. Miranda Priestly
Best epitomised by: Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada (2006)
Whaddayamean, she’s not a monster? Have you not read the book, nor seen the movie? Inspired by Anna Wintour of Vogue, this editor-in-chief of a fashion magazine doesn’t need fangs nor claws to be fearsome.
She has death stares and icy put-downs (“That’s all”). To do a Miranda Priestly, simply throw on a bob wig, and a pair of glasses. A fashionable wardrobe is a MUST. (Thanks, Jane Ragavan for this suggestion!)
