It’s a colourful world: The Cotton Flannel project comprise of fun patterns that can really help you stand out.
Uniqlo seeks to fulfil the varied demands of today’s style needs.
WHEN it comes to aspects of a person’s dressing, it is very much the look of one’s clothes that matters the most.
Trends that dictate what you put on, in this context, often take precedence over the whys and why-not of practicality.
For Uniqlo, it has adopted a different approach. The Japanese brand not only places value in those that wear its clothes, it also looks to the adhering lifestyle that come with each outfit.
The tagline of the brand’s philosophy is LifeWear. In this regard, the different projects (Uniqlo’s own indication for what others would term as “ranges”) offer functional apparel for all, but yet retain a certain sense of polished design aesthetic.
A statement from Uniqlo on LifeWear reads: “The connection to the human body, the needs of lifestyle and the emotional link to clothing are all taken into consideration. This is the appreciation of clothes that goes beyond fashion.”
For the Autumn/Winter 2013 season, LifeWear appears in the form of 12 projects. The pieces from each project blend perfectly when mixed and matched together, but can stand on their own as well.
The Silk project for instance, comprises silk blouses and shirt-dresses with sleek silhouettes. In their sinuous designs, the pieces use high-grade silk – something that women can certainly appreciate.
On the other hand, guys can find joy in the brand’s Denim project. Existing in multiple tonal variations, the shirts and jeans made from the material – while seemingly utilitarian – are seen to be casually trendy when worn the right way.
There is also the Cotton Flannel project from Uniqlo. In this, one can expect playful patterns mixed together for that special take on an iconic plaid look. If you are into the preppy look, this is your thing – albeit with a more humorous twist to it.
Conventional materials aside, there are other unique innovations from the brand which are evident in the HeatTech project. The materials used in this project are made of ultra-fine fibres that offer the ultimate in warmth and comfort.
The HeatTech material absorbs moisture generated by the human body before converting it into heat. Uniqlo applies this to fashion innerwear pieces that are extremely insulating, yet lightweight and thin too.
Other projects from Uniqlo that provide warmth include the Ultra Light Down, Fleece, Cashmere and Warm Easy Pants. All of these are perfect for someone who is heading for a holiday in countries with a cooler clime.
For additional fashionable offerings, you can look to the Ultra Stretch Jeans, Leggings Pants and Shirts projects. There is also a colourful collaborative project with Scandinavian group of designers, 10-gruppen, rounding up the Uniqlo LifeWear Autumn/Winter 2013 collection.
> Priced from RM19.90, the Uniqlo LifeWear Autumn/Winter 2013 collection is available at the brand’s outlets. Visit uniqlo.com.my for more information.
