Origins Mega-Mushroom Skin Relief range is reformulated with new ingredients to help skin recover from inflammatory damage.
A trusted formula gets injected with new ingredients and new benefits.
WHEN your skin gets sensitive, dry, red or breaks out, we are often told that it’s a result of external and internal factors.
While we blame the sun, pollution and environmental toxins, what exactly do internal factors really mean?
According to Dr Andrew Weil, a Harvard-trained pioneer of integrative medicine, psychodermatology “is an emerging field of medicine that links the emotions of skin health, showing that many skin concerns root from brain activity and environment”.
He explains that “recent research indicates that our feelings, particularly negative ones, can release a wave of stress hormones, such as cortisol, which triggers inflammatory ailments”.
He adds that inflammation is the root cause of many skin concerns and diseases.
“Due to the pace of modern life, stress is more prevalent than ever before, and it interferes with tissue regeneration and can trigger a cascade of cellular signals leading to chronic inflammation of skin,” he explains in a press statement.
This reaction manifests in the form of sensitivity, puffiness, redness, acne, extreme dryness and itchy patches.
In response, Origins created its Mega-Mushroom Skin Relief skincare range in 2005. To improve its efficacy, the brand has reformulated its range with these new key active ingredients: sea buckthorn berry and chaga mushroom.
These two ingredients were present only in the Advanced Face Serum so with the reformulation, it is now in the entire Mega-Mushroom Skin Relief range.
Other ingredients include Reishi mushroom, cordyceps mushroom, turmeric, ginger, holy basil and several organic oils. The range includes an Advanced Face Serum, Eye Serum, Soothing Face Cream, Soothing Face Lotion, Face Mask, Soothing Treatment Lotion and Face Cleanser.
“Sea buckthorn berry targets stress-induced skin to quell redness, irritation and sensitivity; chaga mushroom, a powerful antioxidant, minimises cellular damage and reishi mushroom, known as the mushroom of immortality, calms the skin,” says Dr Lieve Declercq, vice president of Basic Science Research for Europe and Asia, and global spokesperson for Origins.
He says that “even if it is not visible on skin, the inflammation process contributes to the generation of chronic skin damage”, and over time, this range of skincare can help strengthen sensitive and soothe skin.
The Origins Mega-Mushroom Skin Relief collection is priced between RM135 and RM350. Available at all Origins counters.
