BEING a socially-conscious brand committed to saving the planet, Origins’ commitment to the environment began when the brand was born in 1990 and continues to grow every year.
All of its printed material is printed on recycled paper while cartons are made from 50% Forest Stewardship Council certified paperboard with 50% post-consumer recycled fibre. These paperboards and cartons are manufactured using wind power or hydro power, both renewable energy resources.
Origins manufacturing facilities have instituted Environmental Management Systems that comply with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). They are designed to improve environmental performance, and avoid or reduce adverse environmental impacts over time.
Consumers are encouraged to be part of this green movement by rewarding exchanges of three full size plastic recyclable cosmetic/skincare empties (of any brand) with an Origins sample. By recycling, consumers reduce landfill wastes, as these containers are then sent to a central location where they are recycled.
For example, the all-new High Potency Night-A-Mins cream, a mineral-enriched renewal cream which will be available at counters next month, is available for sampling now. As such, customers will get a first-hand experience of the night cream which comes with key ingredients of chestnut sativa, barley and wheat extracts, salicyclic acid and calcium.
It contains key essential oils such as neroli, valerian, orange and vanilla, and is claimed to improve the skin’s barrier so that the skin stays hydrated longer. Created to give skin a much-needed boost while it works out at night, the product gives your skin its daily dose of vitamins, minerals and moisture. A time-release resurfacing ingredient is said to help dry, flaky layers of skin gently turn over in the night, revealing visibly radiant, smooth skin the next morning.
In line with Earth Week this year, Origins is showcasing its limited edition Earth Week Tote featuring its “Do Good” philosophy in eight languages. Creative director Melissa Knapp designed the bag and was inspired by her travels, global unity and the brand’s passion for giving back to the planet. The bag itself is unique as it is specially designed to biodegrade once it has outlived its use.
The ‘ultimate eco-friendly tote’ is available at Origins retail and department stores with any purchase of RM220, from April 7 to 27.
