At Vera Wang, Cle De Peau Beaute colours gave models a natural, athletic glow and is a nod to Vera’s new spring 2014 collection of sporty yet elegant silhouettes.
The colour palette by a Japanese cosmetics brand is inspired by unstructured, delicate layers of fabric.
WHEN creative director and official colour creator for Cle de Peau Beaute Lucia Pieroni was thinking of the brand’s Spring/Summer 2014 direction, images of Amanda Seyfried frolicking in the 2008 hit musical feature film Mamma Mia! must have been percolating in her mind.
Pieroni said she wanted to create “a carefree collection that freely explores the real spirit of beauty. Like travelling down a bohemian trail paved with style and glamour”.
This season’s newest shades, according to Pieroni, “were inspired by unstructured, delicate layers of fabrics with a simple, unrestricted flow of movement. The colours overlap in light and are translucent, imparting a halo effect, giving a freshness and richly luxurious look to the face.”
One can easily envision a carefree Amanda Seyfried – the brand’s muse since 2010 and Mamma Mia’s lead – wearing these pretty shades like a free-spirited beauty, kicking up her heels with her best friends around the villa in the musical.
Even though the shades appear to have one-dimensional softness, Pieroni managed to pull off two contrasting looks at the Vera Wang and Rochas Spring/Summer 2014 runway shows recently.
At the chic Vera Wang show, Pieroni said: “The look is a natural, athletic glow. It captures the fresh and healthy look one would have after spending the afternoon running outside in the sun, and is a nod to Vera’s new spring 2014 collection of sporty yet elegant silhouettes.”
The eyes were subtly shaded with dark brown from new Eye Color Quad in Peach Brown, while lips took on a flushed appearance with Enriched Lip Luminizer. The face was prepped with Refining Liquid Foundation followed by Cheek Color Duo for a warm peach tone on the apples of the cheeks.
To achieve that healthy glow, the Luminizing Face Enhancer – which comes in a beautifully designed compact designed by jeweller Shaun Leane – was dusted on the highest points of the face for a sun-kissed effect.
For Rochas, Pieroni interpreted a modern take on filmmaker Tim Burton’s hallowed eternal beauty playing with colour and shadowing, resulting in a hauntingly feminine effect.
To get that hallowed eternal beauty, the model’s complexion was prepped with The Serum for a dewy base and a light dusting of Cheek Color Duo along the sides of the face.
Prices range from RM135 to RM345. Available at all Cle de Peau Beaute counters.
