ONLY regular customers would know that On Ah Ching’s motor repair shop on Kuala Krai’s main road is open for business. Instead of opening the doors of his pre-war shophouse wide as he did before the floods, he now unfolds only a panel or two.
“Water rose to the top floor. Everything was submerged. We are slowly cleaning the shop but we’re still not done,” he says. Customers and friends gathered on the five-foot way urge us to peek inside so we can see how bad the flood was.
