South Korean heartthrob to receive award on Savings Day.
ACTOR Hyun Bin (pic) has been chosen by South Korea’s Financial Services Commission (FSC) to receive a prize for his thrifty lifestyle.
On Tuesday, FSC announced that it will be giving several awards to Hallyu starts in a ceremony on Oct 29 to commemorate the 50th annual Savings Day.
Savings Day began in 1973 to promote frugality and savings to bolster the country’s financial industry.
The 31-year-old heartthrob has starred in many widely popular television series including Secret Garden, which aired in 2011 and can be seen in numerous major television commercials.
The FSC based its decision on Hyun Bin’s thrifty lifestyle in methodically saving his income and contributing to the local economy through his activities in South Korea as well as abroad.
Singer Gu Hara, member of girl group Kara, was also chosen for her continuous donations to various organisations and charities, along with actress Han Hye-jin and baseball player Lee Dae-ho. – The Korea Herald/Asia News Network
