Sharmila Nair had always wondered what it was like to work as a road sweeper. She found out a few weeks ago.
Our writers took to the streets, airport and sewers to find out what it is like to walk in other people's shoes.
THE next time you complain about your job – while sipping some fancy over-priced coffee in an air-conditioned room, think about those who have it hard.
As part of #IkonEveryday, a series by R.AGE and the Government Transformation Programme (GTP), our writers had the opportunity to find out just how some of our cities’ unsung heroes go about solving our #FirstWorldProblems, and boy were they difficult!
The writers – Sharmila Nair, Kevin Tan and Christine Cheah – tried these heroes’
jobs for a day and have come away with not just new knowledge and experiences, but respect for the people who do them, too.
Check out their videos in the playlist below, or head over to the R.AGE website to read their stories (filed under "Content").
This series is in conjunction with Malaysia Day.
