Eating habits: Men eat local, women will explore

Studies show that men would go for what’s available and healthy in their residential neighbourhood, however, women do not, say researchers.

“We found that, for men only, intake of fruit and vegetables was positively associated with the proportion of healthy food outlets around home,” says lead author Christelle Clary of the University of Montreal’s department of social and preventative medicine.

Women eat more portions of fruits and vegetables everyday because they are more willing to travel beyond their neighbourhood, finds study. – Filepic
