Science takes a step towards new treatment for infertility

Researchers, using stem cells, believe they have found a way to help infertility and perhaps even weed out the bad health traits that are usually passed to the next generation. - AFP

Using human embryonic stem cells, scientists have produced primordial germ cells that will become sperm and egg in a major breakthrough from the University of Cambridge.

In nature, primordial germ cells are created just after fertilisation, during the pre-embryonic phase when cells divide and become a ball of cells called a blastocyst.
