Restaurant beats 19 nominees to win first category in The Star People's Food Awards.
AFTER two weeks of voting for the best chicken rice stall in the Klang Valley, Restoran Prosperity Bowl in SS2 has emerged the first winner of The Star People’s Food Awards.
Out of the Top 10 favourite chicken rice eateries that were nominated, Prosperity Bowl received 221 votes, followed by Kee Kee Bentong Chicken Rice located in Restoran Yat Yeh Hing in SS4 with 147 votes, Loke Yun in Ampang with 109 votes, Restoran Hong Seng in Seksyen 17 (105 votes) and Ah Yoke Chicken Rice in Subang Jaya (71 votes).
The other chicken rice eateries in the Top 10 list were Restoran Kong Sai in Paramount Garden, Restoran Satellite in Jalan Gasing, Mr Chicken Restaurant in Puchong, Restoran Hoe Fong in Sea Park and Tim Kee in Sri Petaling.
A total of 19 recommendations (nominations) were submitted for the Best Chicken Rice category. Nominations for the category started on June 1 and closed on June 10. A panel of judges picked three nominees to go on the Top 10 list for voting, and the rest were generated by the public nomination process at the Metro Online Broadcast (MOB), www.mob.com.my.
Voting started on June 15 and ended at midnight, June 30. The nominee with the highest votes at the close of the voting period was declared the winner.
Prosperity Bowl was not the only winner in The Star People’s Food Awards as everyone who participated in the recommendation/nomination, endorsement, and voting, or shared the link via social media, gained points which were automatically tallied by the system, and the top 10 scorers won attractive prizes.
The prizes included hotel stay and dining vouchers at Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur, Armada Petaling Jaya, Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur, Prince Hotel and Residence Kuala Lumpur and Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral.
The list of prize winners is published on the website and they will also be notified by email. The Star will be presenting the Best Chicken Rice Award to Prosperity Bowl today (July 2).
Launched on May 26, The Star People’s Food Awards is a monthly contest that recognises the best street food in the Klang Valley. The first of each month during the Awards period from June 2014 to May 2015 will see a new Award category being launched. The new category launched this month is for the Best Roti Canai.
Next, roti canai!
From July 1 to 10, you can nominate your favourite roti canai eatery in the Klang Valley and share it on The Star People’s Food Awards.
Participating is easy. Just take a photo of the meal at your favourite stall, write a short description, and post it at the Awards website at www.mob.com.my via your Facebook login.
If your favourite roti canai place has already been nominated, you can login to your Facebook and endorse it. Every endorsement earns the outlet a point to get into the Top 10 voting list.
You can also participate as a voter. Each voter is allowed to cast up to three votes per category per Facebook login. The three votes must be used to endorse three different stalls.
Public online voting starts on July 15 to midnight of the last day of each month.
The online voting is live, and scores are automatically tallied, and instantly viewed.
Those who nominate, vote, or successfully share a link, are automatically entered into a race to win the prizes. The more activities you perform, especially via sharing on social media, the more points you will receive. The details for this exciting awards can be found in the FAQ and About section on The Star People’s Food Awards’ website.
The Star People’s Food Awards is sponsored by Jasmine rice, and hosted by MOB, The Star’s citizen journalism website, at www.mob.com.my.
