At Mondial de la biere, beers are treated with the same reverence as wines.
For beer lovers, Montreal will be the centre of the world this week, as the city hosts the largest international beer festival in North America.
More than 100,000 suds lovers will gather for the 21st edition of the Mondial de la biere, treating beer with the same reverence as oenophiles talk about wine.
Of the 500 different beers that will be showcased at the festival, beer producers from Thailand will present for the first time.
New this year, attendees can also participate in cooking workshops that use beer as an ingredient.
For those who'd prefer to just dine and drink, 15 food pavilions will offer Italian, Latin American, Canadian and European-themed menus.
Possible beer and food pairings include smoked deer panini sandwiches, wild boar hamburgers, ceviche, meatballs, kangaroo sausage, smoked maple sausage and bison.
This year, of the 570 beers and ciders that will be showcased, about half will be new products.
Winners of the Consumer Beer Contest, as voted by attendees, will be announced on June 15, the last day of Mondial de la biere Montreal. – AFP Relaxnews
