BECAUSE there just aren’t enough deep-fried liquid foods in the world, KFC Japan has gone and thrown corn chowder into the deep fryer.
Spun as deep-fried soup, the breaded corn fritters was launched on Sept 5 in KFC restaurants across Japan and carry on a culinary trend that’s taken the country by storm: creamy corn potage, reports RocketNews24.
The popularity of corn soup has made it a fixture on cafe menus in Japan and – as is bound to happen in a country where culinary trends often take on a life of its own – undergone unexpected interpretations including popsicle form for the summer.
Only natural that the extreme should also swing the other way and end up in the fryer, notes RocketNews24.
