Nothing dull about Simply d, a hip urban kopitiam seen through a gwailo’s eyes

Toss a stone anywhere in the Klang Valley and you’ll probably hit a hipster café. Urbandictionary.com explains this as “a subculture of people in their 20s and 30s who value independent thinking and appreciate art and indie-rock”. The look is “effortless cool” urban bohemian, and this is mirrored by the many cafés here that attempt to do this with artsy or earthy décor.

You get the feeling that these are more hangout places instead of restaurants, often situated in a random location that seems a little out of sync with the rest of the neighbourhood. And yes, it must have good coffee.
