The sweeter side of life 50 mouth-watering dishes to savour at longest dessert buffet

SUNWAY Hotel George Town’s Sweet Temptations — Longest Dessert Buffet — takes diners on a sugar high with its assortment of delightful and irresistible treats.

And with a good selection of savoury appetisers, delicious main courses and local delicacies to devour, it is poised to satisfy even the heartiest appetite.

It makes the buffet, served every Saturday and Sunday from 12.30pm to 3.30pm at the Penang hotel’s stylish Sun Cafe George Town, a great proposition for family and friends to gather and feast away the weekend.

Forgo eating conventions and ‘attack’ the desserts section first, as the dainty and visually enticing spread — touted as the longest in town with around 50 items — tempts your craving.

Dig into the rich Bread and Butter Pudding with Vanilla Custard or enjoy the crunchiness of the Mixed Nuts Tart. The Rose Panna Cotta simply melts in your mouth.

Or pick from the litany of cakes, puddings and jellies, available in a rainbow of colours. Order crepes and waffles, prepared ala minute, and lather on the toppings of your choice.

Try out the nifty ice-shaving machine and create your very own ais kacang. Help yourself to ice cream, or local sweets like kuih bingka ubi and bubur cha cha, to truly experience the sweeter side of life.

Cut through the richness with savoury items like Focaccia mini pizzas, samosas, pasta salad, prawn salad, Chicken Crumble Tart, and Tuna Tart with Cheese, among others.

You can prepare your own sandwiches with freshly baked bagels, Sour Rye or Rex Milano breads and a variety of fillings.

At the main dish section, one finds over a dozen hearty offerings like roasted chicken, fried fish with Thai chilli sauce, stir fried prawns and mixed vegetables gratin.

Otherwise, savour local favourites like roti jala with chicken curry, chicken rice, prawn mee, wantan mee and pasembur, available on rotation on different weeks.

And here’s the best part — the buffet is only priced at RM28++ per person, offering great value for money.

The hotel also offers a Semi-Buffet Lunch (RM20++ per pax) from Monday to Friday, between noon and 2.30pm.

On Wednesday, there is a Hawker’s Buffet Dinner (RM48++ for adults, RM28++ for children, RM28 nett for seniors) from 7pm to 10pm, featuring Penang’s famous street food.

Enjoy grilled meats and seafood in the BBQ Buffet Dinner (RM58++ adults, RM35++ children, RM35 nett seniors) from 7pm to 10pm every Friday and Saturday.

There is a Pay-3-Get-1-Free promotion for both the Hawker and BBQ buffets.

Get together with family and relatives to enjoy the Prosperity Buffet Dinner (RM48++ adults, RM28++ children) today and tomorrow from 7pm to 10pm.

Or savour the Good Fortune High-Tea (RM39++ adults, RM23++ kids) today and Sunday from 12.30pm to 3.30pm.

Both festive buffets feature a Chinese-inspired spread of seasonal delicacies. It includes yee sang for diners to toss their way to prosperity and welcome the Year of the Horse with abundance.

Lovebirds can go for the Splendour of Love 5-course set dinner (RM250++ per couple) on Feb 13 and 14. It includes a beverage, door gift and a lucky dip for prizes worth RM2,000.
