PREPARE to be greeted by endless offerings of creative dishes if you are planning to celebrate this Christmas or New Year’s at Armada Hotel, Petaling Jaya.
The hotel’s executive chef Chew Teik Chye has been working hard to ensure that only the best dishes will be served on the buffet line.
During a recent visit to Utara Coffee House at the hotel, Chew revealed a few of his “secret” dishes from his thick file of recipes.
“You cannot take must-haves such as roast turkey or roast beef out of the menu, which is why you will definitely see it this year too,” he said.
Other Christmas dishes on the buffet dinner line include Boston Oyster Leek soup with Santa Bread Roll, Louisiana Pumpkin Pie, Christmas Fried Rice, Buttered Prawn with Coconut Flakes and Broccoli with Turkey Smoked sauce.
Those planning to come for its Christmas Day high-tea can expect Christmas Pizza, Mushroom Chicken Pie, Spaghetti with Marinara sauce, Christmas Pudding and Baked Fish with Spinach stew.
On the New Year’s Eve buffet dinner menu, chef Chew has prepared dishes such as Fresh Oyster with Lemon Wedges, Glass Noodles with Prawns, Cajun Baked Crabs, Lamb Parmentier, Baked Seafood Rice with Mozzarella, Saxon Pudding and Cream of Dubarry Soup.
Most patrons also fancy Asian dishes, said chef Chew, and this has led him to add local and regional cuisine to the buffet line for both Christmas and New Year.
“We will include a special selection of Japanese dishes and local favourites such as Roast Duck with Sesame Plum sauce, Nasi Lengkap, Fermented Bean Fried Chicken, Ikan Panggang with Air Assam and fried yee mee,” said Chew, adding that 80% of the menu would be Western dishes.
The Christmas and New Year’s Eve buffet dinner is priced at RM75++ (adult), RM60++ (senior citizen) and RM37.50++(child).
While the Christmas and New Year’s day high tea buffet is priced at RM65++(adult), RM55++ (senior citizen) and RM32.50++ (child).
Aside from Christmas carollers entertaining guests on Christmas Eve, the hotel’s resident band will also be performing two sets filled with upbeat tunes on each of the four days.
The hotel is also taking orders for a selection of Christmas goodies such as Roast Chicken (RM80++),Roast Turkey (RM280++), Roast leg of Lamb (RM190++), Log Cakes in Chocolate, Tiramisu or Black Forest (RM85++) and a variety of cookies priced from RM10++ onwards.
