THIS Ramadan, Wild Rice Restaurant at The Boulevard-St Giles Premier Hotel, Kuala Lumpur is offering prime cuisine at a reasonable price.

The restaurant’s Ramadan buffet with the theme Selera Perdana is on until Aug 4.

The menu features the favourite local dishes of Malaysia’s first four prime ministers — Tunku Abdul Rahman, Tun Abdul Razak Hussein, Tun Hussein Onn and Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Several main dishes which capture the taste buds of the former leaders are traditional and all-time favourites, many of which originated from their respective hometowns.

Among Tunku’s favourites are Ayam Kuzi Kismis, Perut Lembu Masak Lemak Cili, Daging Kandar Mamak and Ikan Keli Goreng Berlada.

Diners can also indulge in Gulai Tempoyak Ikan Patin, Otak Otak Ikan and Kepah Masak Lemak Cili Api which are among Abdul Razak’s top picks.

Hussein Onn’ favourites include Kambing Briyani, Ikan Asam Pedas, Daging Bamia Johor and Udang Kalio.

Dr Mahathir’s top choices are Daging Kicap Rempah Hitam, Kambing Dalca, Siput Sedut Cili Berserai and Kari Ketam Kampung Utara.

“We came up with the four menus after going through a few books which had information on the former prime ministers favourite traditional foods. We used authentic recipes when cooking their favourite dishes,” said chef Bakri Abu Bakar, 40.

There is also a wide range of appetisers, salads and soups.

Some of the soups include Sup Pidang Lautan, Sup Kambing Mamak, sup ekor, Sup Ayam Kampung and the Ramadan special bubur lambuk.

There are seven live action stalls offering various local and international foods including noodles, roast lamb, satay, lemang, pasta and many more.

Also check out the Mexican corner serving halal food such as tacos, chimichanga and quesadillas.

Last but not least, a wide array of tempting desserts are served including cendol, coconut pudding, pengat pisang, bubur chacha as well as various cakes and puddings.

The buffet is priced at RM80++ per person and RM40++ per child.
