World Architecture Festival 2014 offers a glimpse into the future of cities

World Building of the Year: The Chapel, Vietnam, a21studio - Designed as a communal space in a space-starved suburb, The Chapel used leftover steel and metal sheets from the owner's previous projects; the white painted sheets that form the structure give it the appearance of a chapel. To maximise space, the only internal support is provided by a tree-shaped steel column with steel bar 'branches'. - All images from the World Architecture Festival 2014

Themed ‘Architects and the City’, the World Architecture Festival 2014 held in Singapore was a convergence of brilliant designs, coveted awards and thought-provoking discourse.

As visitors leisurely viewed stunning photographs of the shortlisted entries displayed, an intense activity was going on: In the various “Crit” rooms set up across the hall, architects pitched fervently in front of judges for their projects to win the various awards available.
