NASA’s MAVEN probe ends a 10-month journey to put itself into orbit around Mars and begin a hunt for the planet’s lost water.
After travelling 71,000,000km, the Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution (MAVEN) probe finally reaches its destination on Sept 21. The spacecraft fired its six rocket thrusters that act as its brakes, and trimming its speed from 20,600kph to 16,093 kph.
