Gaming fans to dig for 'E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial' in the desert, for real

Fans of the Atari 2600 E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial  videogame from 1982 – often referred to as the worst videogame in history – has taken them to a desert landfill where they’re hoping to unearth millions of the game’s cartridges.

Searchers, accompanied by documentary filmmakers, plan to scour a New Mexico landfill in an attempt to unearth a legendary dump of millions of unwanted E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial video game cartridges rumoured to have been buried at the site in the early 1980s.
