MARCH 30 and 31: In Massacre of the Ziu Family, the unscrupulous minister Tou Ngon-Gu devises a scheme to kill the whole Ziu clan. Princess Zong Gei, who was not rounded up, gives birth to a child and then commits suicide. When Tou learns that the orphan has left the palace, he gives an order for all babies in the state to be killed within three days. A Night Of Cantonese Opera will also showcase other popular tales including Flirting Scholar, Lady Warrior Faan and Tragedy in Suiyang,

MARCH 29: With conductor Kevin Field at the helm, the MPYO will open this concert with Overture to Egmont composed by Beethoven for a production of Goethe’s play in 1787.
This will be followed by Mozart’s Symphony No. 25 in G minor, a masterpiece with a wild and stormy theme played over agitated syncopations, and Brahms’ first piano concerto. The ensemble will collaborate with pianist Ng Chong Lim. Time: 8.30pm. Tickets: RM35.

MARCH 31: Two lectures will be held on the same day. Drop in at the “Discover Your Negative Tendencies and Correct Them Forever” lecture, and pick up some tips on making your life brighter, better and happier.
The second lecture, “Real Salvation For Ancestors with Memorial Service”, will provide some insight into the importance of memorial services and the power of enlightenment in saving departed souls and enhancing those who are living. With this in mind, the Malaysia Association for Cell Therapy (MACT) is organising its second Scientific Meeting next week. Included in the tentative programme schedule is a session focusing on industry updates and research.

MARCH 31: Put on your running shoes and do your bit for charity.
Register for the first Makna Founder’s Run 2013 with the tagline “Run The Miles, Fund The Smiles”. Some 5,000 runners of all ages and athletic capabilities are expected to participate in this inaugural run at Padang Merbok, Kuala Lumpur.
There is also a 3km Fun Run that encourages participants to dress up in their wackiest ensemble.
A total of RM14,000 in cash prizes and two return tickets to any Asean destination by AirAsia is up for grabs.
Volunteer Divers Wanted
APRIL 6 to 13: Astro aims to set a new world record in the longest underwater clean-up and is inviting qualified divers to participate in this event. It will take place at the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
The attempt is to do 168-consecutive hours over seven days of underwater clean-up sessions at 14 dive sites. Volunteers who are selected will receive full-board stay, which includes accommodation and meals. To participate, you can register online.
