Take a bite out of the Apple Edition

CUTE and naughty aptly describes the exclusive Vespa LX 150 variant which has “bitten apple” motifs harking back to a memorable Vespa advertising campaign in 1969. Distributed by Naza Premira Sdn Bhd, the Apple Edition comes with apple motifs that are playful, vibrant and pays homage to part of Vespa’s history.

The original advertising Italian slogan of Chi Vespa mangia le mele roughly translates to “If you ride a Vespa, you take a bite out of the apple,” which connotes a cheeky and bold act that sets one apart from the crowd.

Besides the apple motifs, the Apple Edition also gets a two-tone saddle.

Underneath, the Apple Edition is basically a LX 150 model with a 150cc engine that delivers 11.6hp and 11.5Nm of torque.

Priced at RM11,388 on-the-road, the Apple Edition is limited to 168 units for sale in Malaysia. Naza Premira is also offering limited numbers of the standard LX 150 scooter at RM8,888 under its promotional Chinese New Year campaign which ends on Feb 28. Buyers of the LX 150 will also get ang pows with their purchases.

Naza Group of Companies joint group executive chairman Datuk Wira SM Faisal SM Tan Sri Nasimuddin said Vespa was one of the most sought after lifestyle scooters in Malaysia with 1,000 units sold last year.

“The Apple Edition combines youthful charm with timeless quality of classic Vespas and is ideal for everyday urban commutes between home and workplace, or simply for casual and leisurely rides,” Faisal said.

Faisal also said he was confident of Vespa’s potential growth in Malaysia and added that Naza Premira’s aim was to put a Vespa in every Malaysian home by 2020.
