The Chilean-American actress will co-star with Antonio Banderas, Josh Brolin, Martin Sheen and Juliette Binoche in a new movie.

Cote de Pablo, best known for her portrayal of Ziva David on NCIS from 2005 to 2013, has joined the cast of The 33, a drama based on the plight of the 33 Chilean miners trapped underground for 69 days. Journalists and camera crews from around the globe came to the site of the collapsed mine to inform the world of the workers’ distress and ultimately document their rescue.

Born in Santiago, Chile, De Pablo will play the wife of one of the trapped miners in The 33. The role will be her first since leaving the CBS procedural drama, which is the most watched series on US TV.

The 33 is currently being filmed in Chile and Colombia by Mexican-American filmmaker Patricia Riggen, hailed by critics in 2007 for her film Under The Same Moon. — AFP Relaxnews

After leaving “NCIS,” Cote de Pablo is headed for the big screen in “The 33.”
