Melissa Joan Hart revealed this week that she used to be a wild child who partied hard all the time.
The former teen idol talks about her old partying days in a new book.
ACTRESS Melissa Joan Hart, who shot to stardom in the early 1990s as a precocious tween in Nickelodeon’s Clarissa Knows It All series, and later as the all-American teen in the hit show Sabrina The Teenage Witch, has a dark secret.
In a new tell-all book titled Melissa Explains It All, Hart, now 37, reveals that she used to be quite the wild child who partied hard all the time and even did drugs.
Hart, in an interview with Life & Style magazine, says that she experimented with drugs like marijuana, Ecstasy, magic mushrooms and mescaline “for about a year and a half”.
She adds that she once took Ecstasy at Hugh Hefner’s famous Playboy Mansion in 1999, after which she went to a photo shoot while still under the influence. “That was my third or fourth time on Ecstasy,” she was quoted as saying.
The former child star, who now stars alongside that other teen heartthrob Joey Lawrence in a sitcom called Melissa & Joey, also shares other colourful stories about her past, like how she had make-out sessions with celebrities like actor Jerry O’Connell and singer Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys.
Another secret? She’s not that friendly with Ashton Kutcher, saying that he somehow rubs her the wrong way. Hart told the magazine, “Ashton and I just didn’t get along”, and that she tried to kick him out of her private parties a couple of times after he made rude comments.
In the interview, Hart also mentions that she is glad her “experiments” did not lead to addiction. “I just didn’t enjoy taking drugs. I don’t like the loss of control,” she says in the magazine.
