Vapor Trails Remixed

Review

Loud and clear

RUSH can be considered among the pioneers of the hard rock vibe, first showing up on the radar way back in 1974 with their self-titled debut album.

Since then, the band has had some hits and misses and I have to admit, I have only ever listened to some of their earlier albums.

This actually isn't a new album, instead Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart having chosen to take a step back in time to revisit 2002's Vapor Trails, which was almost universally panned for its heavy-handed compression work.

What emerges is an album that any Rush fan would be proud to own. Forget about the earlier effort and put your money down on this one.

As usual, Peart's lyrics hit all the right notes and Lee and Lifeson add their special touch to get it just right, this time around.

The album also includes Freeze, the fourth part of the Fear series that begins with The Enemy Within from 1984's Grace Under Pressure.

Other good tracks on this album include Vapor Trail, Ghost Rider and Earthshine.

Definitely a great pick for the hard rock fans out there and one that showcases what the original Vapor Trails should have and could have been.
