SM Entertainment’s rookie girl group Red Velvet is making a splash at home and abroad with its debut track Happiness.
The tune arrived at No. 3 in Singapore, No. 4 in Malaysia, No. 5 in Thailand and No. 9 in Hong Kong. It also landed in the top 10 on iTunes’ singles chart after its release on Aug 5.
The quartet launched it with an onstage performance on the KBS’ Music Bank on Aug 8, followed by SBS music programme Inkigayo two days later.
Red Velvet is SM Entertainment’s first group to debut since idol group f(x) five years ago. The new group consists of Seulgi, Irene and Wendy, all from SM’s pre-debut team SM Rookies, and Joy, who also trained under the agency.
SOUTH Korean boyband 2PM will embark on a world concert series in major cities, its label JYP Entertainment announced.
The sextet is to kick off 2PM World Tour, with the first concert to be held in Seoul on Oct 3 and 4, shortly after its new album release.
Following the two-day concert, 2PM will perform in several countries including Thailand, China, the United States and Indonesia.
The band is to return to the K-pop scene in September, with its fourth studio album and EP in South Korea and Japan, respectively.
The upcoming album is attracting a bigger spotlight than ever as its title song was written by 2PM member Jun.K. It would mark the first time that the group is using a self-composed tune.
TAETISEO – the popular Girls’ Generation spin-off group consisting of members Taeyeon, Tiffany and Seohyun – is gearing up for a new album release.
“TaeTiSeo is currently working on a new album and preparing for a comeback,” said an SM official. “The release date has not been confirmed yet, but will be announced in the future.”
The trio is expected to make its return by the end of this year, according to news reports. Though the format of the upcoming album has yet to be determined, the lead single is likely to be similar to the group’s previous hit Twinkle.
TaeTiSeo, also known as Girl’s Generation-TTS, is a sub-group of the original nine-member group. The trio’s name combines the first syllables of the members’ names.
GIRLS’ Generation’s Jessica Jung, who is also known for her great fashion sense, has launched her own fashion brand called BLANC. The label features chic items that wouldn’t be influenced by fast-changing trends.
A range of eyewear will be the first items to be released and each item has its own style, inspired by major cities – Seoul, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tokyo, New York and Paris.
The K-pop idol is planning to release a fragrance as well as a new 2015 Fall/Winter collection. The singer says she is very happy to fulfill her longtime dream of launching a fashion brand and is excited to develop and show her new collections.
THE bubbly girl group Crayon Pop, one K-pop’s most unexpected success stories, is preparing to release its first full-length album.
The ladies’ yet-to-be-titled studio album is dropping more than two years after the group made its debut. It is expected to be unveiled to the public sometime next month, according to an announcement made by Chrome Entertainment.
“Our goal is to make a comeback in September,” said a representative from Chrome. “The members are currently in the process of recording and practising the new choreography.”
The five members previously released the soundtrack single Hey Mister in June as well as their fifth single Uh-ee in April, where the ladies left their signature helmets behind and revealed their latest “hanbok” (Korean traditional costume) concept. – Korea Herald/Asia News Network
