'Weird Al' Yankovic strikes again!
The parody genius enlists the help of a handful of Hollywood stars for his videos.
This week, be entertained by “new” music from the master of parody, “Weird Al” Yankovic, as he releases one music video daily for eight days. He has three videos out so far, and they are all awesome!
American singer-songewriter Yankovic, 55, released his brand new album Mandatory Fun on Tuesday, and it is fast gaining attention thanks to his music videos. The album contains 12 tracks: Handy (parody of Iggy Azalea’s Fancy), Lame Claim To Fame, Foil (Lorde’s Royals), Sports Song, Word Crimes (Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines), My Own Eyes, NOW That’s What I Call Polka! (a medley of songs featured on one of the famous “NOW” compilation albums), Mission Statement, Inactive (Imagine Dragons’ Radioactive), First World Problems, Tacky (Pharrell’s Happy) and Jackson Park Express.
In Foil, Yankovic starts the video by singing about how he can never finish a meal at a restaurant, having to brown-bag the leftovers almost all the time. Then things get a little weird... Actors Patton Oswald, Thomas Lennon and Ben Garant make a cameo in this College Humor-supported video.
Yankovic proves his vocabulary and grammar prowess in Word Crimes, where he lists common grammatical errors that grinds everyone’s gears. “I hate these word crimes! Like ‘I could care less’; that means you do care,” he sings. If anything, this video is one that’s educational.
Aisha Tyler, Margaret Cho, Eric Stonestreet, Kristen Schaal and Jack Black appear in Tacky, a wonderful parody of Pharrell’s equally fun and phenomenally successful Happy.
Whatever will he come up with next?
