Radiohead guitarist composing music for Inherent Vice.
RADIOHEAD guitarist Jonny Greenwood is composing the music for Paul Thomas Anderson’s upcoming movie Inherent Vice, according to Film Music Reporter.
The star-studded film – the cast now counts Joaquin Phoenix, Jena Malone, Josh Brolin, Reese Witherspoon, Benicio Del Toro and Owen Wilson among its stars – is based on Thomas Pynchon’s 2009 novel of the same name. The story revolves around Doc Sportello (Phoenix), a pot-smoking private eye who criss-crosses Los Angeles in 1970 investigating a missing person case.
Greenwood has scored Anderson’s two previous films: There Will Be Blood and The Master. He has also written music for the films Norwegian Wood (2010) and We Need to Talk About Kevin (2011) as well as several pieces as composer-in-residence for the BBC Concert Orchestra. According to the report, his score for the upcoming film is set to be recorded this month with London’s Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
Inherent Vice is slated for release in late 2014. – AFP Relaxnews
