Kesha concert cancelled (updated)

The Kesha Warrior Tour concert in Malaysia has been cancelled.

The Kesha Warrior Tour concert in Malaysia has been cancelled.

Tomorrow’s concert in Stadium Negara has been called off.

American singer Kesha will not be performing in Kuala Lumpur tomorrow after all. She is currently in the city, having arrived at around 2pm.

In an official statement, concert promoter Livescape mentions problems with obtaining a permit as the reason for the cancellation, and that the company has done all it can to “fight for the show to go on”.

Livescape, which has produced over 100 shows in Malaysia, will be giving refunds to fans who have bought tickets to the Kesha Warrior Tour concert, as well as travel reimbursements to some people (subject to terms and conditions). Details will be out soon – you can go to for updates.

“To the fans, we apologise for the situation you have been put through,” the statement says.

Kesha has broken her silence on her Kuala Lumpur show which was cancelled at the last minute due to permit problems.

The American singer tweeted: "to be clear. i did NOT cancel. i was not allowed to play. and then I was going to play anyways and was threatened with imprisonment."

According to head of PR for Livescape Jason Kong, Kesha did consult the organiser on what will happen if she went on with the show.

"We told her we would advise against it because the authority will shut down the show.

"I don't know where the imprisonment (part) came from. I don't think anyone from the government was in touch with her. I think it was a tweet of frustration (from her)," Kong said.

Kesha, who arrived at 6.40pm last evening, was visibly upset and saddened when told of the cancellation of her concert.

Kong said the organiser is currently working on refunds to fans who have purchased tickets. "We have been clear that even if you have travelled to KL specially for the concert and have proof of (travel) ticket, we will also refund that."

More details on the refund will be made available on Monday. Kesha left Malaysia this morning.
