After shedding about 10kg for the role, the actor shows off his character’s interview skills in the first trailer for Nightcrawler.
Louis Bloom is a desperate journalist looking for a job. In Nightcrawler, the character ends up investigating the Los Angeles crime scene. Jake Gyllenhaal (Prisoners) plays this title character, sharing the screen with Bill Paxton (Edge Of Tomorrow) and Rene Russo (Thor: The Dark World).
Nightcrawler is the feature directing debut of Dan Gilroy, who penned the screenplays for Real Steel and The Bourne Legacy.
The trailer, posted to a YouTube account under the character’s name, is something of a cover letter in video format, in which we see him reciting the same enthusiastic speech to what we assume are several potential employers. His motto? “If you want to win at the lottery, you have to make the money to buy a ticket.” However desperate he may seem, no one could fault Louis Bloom for a lack of motivation.
Nightcrawler is due for release in the US on Oct 16. To see if you would hire Jake Gyllenhaal’s character, watch the video below. — AFP Relaxnews
