The hotly-anticipated film is expected to open sometime in late July.
As Glenn Close’s haughty Nova Corps commander would have it, “the fate of 12 billion people is in the hands of a thief, two thugs, a murderer and a maniac.”
For Peter Quill, played by Chris Pratt, he and his motley crew have a chance to protect the galaxy and prevent a powerful artifact from wiping out bllions of lives.
And in May’s previous trailer, he described his group using exactly the same words – “but we’re not going to stand by as evil wipes out the galaxy,” was the qualifier.
This international trailer, released more than a month ahead of the Guardians Of The Galaxy theatrical debut, touches on the emergence of Quill, once a child caught in a space ship’s spotlight beam, now the smart-talking, star-hopping leader of the Guardians.
Otherwise, there’s further opportunity to become acquainted with assassin Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Rocket the racoon (Bradley Cooper), tree-like Groot (Vin Diesel) and hulky Drax (Dave Bautista).
For Marvel, it’s an opportunity to expand on the comic label’s Cinematic Universe without necessarily engaging with the Avengers franchise and its ever-unfurling tendrils.
And Guardians Of The Galaxy, occupied as it may be with underdog heroes, courage and kinsmanship in the face of adversity, and saving multiple worlds, isn’t so much about superpowers as it is about sci-fi, daring raids and snappy dialogue. — AFP Relaxnews
