The upcoming Japanese film’s title track is taken from the popular British boy band’s best-selling album.
There’s a new trailer out for Japanese high school romance Say ‘I Love You’, a film based on a successful comic book series and now bound for live-action cinematic remake.
Starring Haruna Kawaguchi as shy, distrustful loner Mei, and Sota Fukushi as the confident, curious Yamaoto – one of her high school’s most popular students – the film shows the pair develop an unusual friendship that soon blossoms into something more.
With 12 volumes of the manga series published since 2008, Say ‘I Love You’ was later turned into an animated series starting in 2012. This live action affair could yet win international hearts thanks to its universal message and a title theme by One Direction, Happily, taken from 2013’s best-selling album Midnight Memories.
The film is due for Japanese release from July 12.
