New 'Godzilla' trailer offers a fresh angle

See more monster action in the international cut of the Godzilla trailer.

There’s a whole load of new material to see in this international cut of the first full Godzilla trailer.

Brian Cranston’s there in full-on “Serious Scientist” mode, while Ken Watanabe now lends his face to apocalyptic statements about mankind’s folly.

New monster-ravaged cityscapes parade before our eyes, and there’s additional context for the film’s heroes and heroines.

The 2014 Godzilla reboot hasn’t forgotten its 1954 roots.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s the well-equipped military man up against that almighty sea beast Godzilla, while Elizabeth Olsen plays his wife – this might be a blockbuster action movie, but it’s equally well presented as a story of family survival, too.

Godzilla has a May 14 date for select European countries, including France, with much of South-East Asia joining central and eastern Europe for a May 15 opening.

Theatres in the United States, Britain and Ireland are scheduled for a May 16 debut with Japan’s debut date scheduled for July 25. — AFP Relaxnews
