There will be blood in follow-up fantasy action film.
SEVEN years after the release of fantasy action film 300, comes the follow-up 300: Rise of an Empire. This upcoming film sees Lena Headey and Rodrigo Santoro reprising their roles as Queen Gorgo of Sparta and King Xerxes respectively. Former Bond girl Eva Green joins the cast as Artemisia. Then there’s also Australia actor Sullivan Stapleton as Greek general Themistocles.
Based on Xerxes, a graphic novel by Frank Miller, 300: Rise of an Empire will see Themistocles lead Greece in a war against invading Persian forces. In this behind-the-scenes featurette, producer and writer Zack Snyder reveals that the film is “more of a companion film than a prequel or a sequel”. The clip also explains that the film will trace Xerxes beginnings from mortal to megalomaniac god king.
300: Rise of an Empire opens in cinemas nationwide on March 6, 2014.
