Annie Wilkes ('Misery') has a method to keep her man in her house that involves a knife.
Supernatural villains aren’t the only scary ones. Here are a few non-supernatural ones that had us screaming in fear.
Hannibal Lecter (The Silence Of The Lambs) – Hannibal, the serial killer with an appetite for human flesh and Italian wine, and has impeccably good manners.
Annie Wilkes (Misery) – Beliebers have nothing on Annie, an overzealous fan of writer Paul Sheldon. She kidnaps and then breaks his legs so he can’t leave her. That’s taking fandom to a creepy level.
Ghostface (Scream) – This fella who wears the ghostface mask likes to make crank calls before chasing his teen victims and killing them. When the mask does come off, it’s always the last person you’d suspect.
The Jigsaw Killer (Saw) – A dying man gets the idea of teaching people to value their own lives by kidnapping them and then putting them through really sick trials.
Norman Bates (Psycho) – Since Norman runs a motel, it isn’t hard for this peeping Tom to find his next victim – blonde and young females suit him just fine. Let’s blame it on his controlling mother.
The Joker (The Dark Knight) – Don’t let the perpetual smile on his face fool you; The Joker’s middle name should have just been Chaos. He proves that playing a prank is serious business and far from funny.
Even though the sight of him wearing a nurse outfit earns a chuckle, it turns chilling very quickly.
Captain Vidal (Pan’s Labyrinth) – Captain Vidal (pic below) may be human, but this Nazi captain is mind-numbingly evil, deranged and a total psychopath.
