Keanu Reeves plays the slave warrior Kai in '47 Ronin'.
The long-awaited samurai action flick is set for a release on Christmas week.
The official trailers for 47 Ronin, which stars Keanu Reeves, were released today.
The two-minute, three-second clip is filled with awesome fight sequences, one-liners (but no “Whoa.” from Reeves, unfortunately) and several mysterious characters.
Set in an alternate version of Japan, 47 Ronin revolves around a slave named Kai – played by Reeves – who teams up with a band of 47 samurai seeking revenge from, uh ... some bad folks.
By the way, a ronin is a warrior who does not follow any leader or master.
“Rivers of blood and mountains of corpses will not stand in my way," says Rinko Kikuchi's one blue, one black-eyed human character.
Co-starring with Reeves and Kikuchi in the movie are a bunch of Japanese actors including Hiroyuki Sanada, Tadanobu Asano and Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, as well as Canadian actor Rick Genest (his boy is covered in tattoos so you can’t miss him in the trailer).
The movie is directed by the relatively unknown Carl Rinsch, who has not done any big screen film prior to this. It is scheduled to open in Malaysia on Dec 19.
A slightly different version of the trailer can be found here.
