Good observation leads to winning story on growing up

The winning entry for the Calistro Prize 2014 is a relatively hefty manuscript, coming in at 57,000 words and filled with the wonders and woe of growing up.

In an interview after the prize-giving ceremony in Kuala Lumpur last month, author Ivan Yeo sums it up succinctly: “It is about a boy with three thumbs being bullied by a boy with one eye.”
