Americans appear for first time in Man Booker Prize shortlist


Contenders for one of the most prestigious literary prizes in the world include Americans for the first time ever.

The chair of the judges of the 2014 Man Booker Prize for Fiction announced the six authors whose works will be vying for one of the literary world’s most sought-after prize. For the first time in the history of the prize, the shortlist features two US novelists, Joshua Ferris and Karen Joy Fowler.
