OVER the years, I have had the good fortune to speak to authors, politicians, sportsmen and businessmen, but never a nobleman who has been and is all of the above combined — until now. I could only imagine Lord Jeffrey Archer’s bemused smile at the other end of the telephone as this avid fan stuttered an introduction at the start of the interview, trying to express how he is one of my biggest inspirations as a writer.
