IN HOPES of preserving the intricate taste of traditional Hainanese cuisine and bringing the kopitiam concept to a whole new level, entrepreneur James Koh, 33, took a leap of faith to start up Hometown Hainan Coffee.

The idea was suggested by Koh’s brothers and sisters and it was a business close to their hearts as their grandparents had ventured into the traditional Hainanese coffee shop business when they were young.
