Auto industry veteran Syed Hisham becomes Puncak Niaga MD


Datuk Syed Hisham, who has vast exposure in the motor industry at senior management level, has joined Puncak Niaga effective Nov 6.

KUALA LUMPUR: Puncak Niaga Holdings Bhd has appointed former UMW Holdings Bhd president Datuk Syed Hisham Syed Wazir as its managing director, a post previously held by Tan Sri Rozali Ismail.

The company said in a statement to Bursa Malaysia that Rozali, who is the biggest shareholder with a 40.6% direct stake, would remain as executive chairman.

Prior to joining Puncak Niaga, Syed Hisham, 61, was the president and group CEO of UMW Holdings from October 2010 to September 2015.

He has held vast exposure in the motor industry at senior management level, including as chief operating officer of Naza Kia Sdn Bhd and Naza Kia Services Sdn Bhd from 2009 to 2010, and as Edaran Otomobil Nasional Bhd managing director from 2005 to 2009.

Puncak Niaga also has redesignated director Datuk Ir Lee Miang Koi, the former chief operating officer of Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor, as executive director (operations division) with immediate effect.

Meanwhile, executive director Datuk Syed Danial Syed Ariffin has resigned.

Puncak Niaga shares closed unchanged at RM2.88 on Friday, with 1.29 million shares being traded.
