Banks propel KLCI higher at midday


At 12.30pm, the KLCI was up 12.31 points or 0.76% to 1,641.11. Turnover was 968.20 million shares valued at RM779.29mil. The broader market was higher with advancers beating decliners 478 to 217 while 276 counters were unchanged.

At Bursa Malaysia, Maybank rose 12 sen to RM8.57 and it was the biggest mover among the KLCI stocks as it nudged the index up 1.95 points.
