PETALING JAYA: The Government is creating a statutory body to take over housing loans it currently manages for civil servants to lower the country’s debt-to-gross domestic product ratio, according to Treasury secretary-general Tan Sri Mohd Irwan Serigar Abdullah.
A Bloomberg report quoted Irwan as saying that the move would transfer out about RM40bil into off balance sheet liabilities and reduce official debt figures of the country.
