PETALING JAYA: The gas price hike that takes effect from next month could result in a squeeze on private consumption if mall operators, who would be affected, decide to pass on the cost to shoppers and consumers.
Malaysia Retail Chain Association president Datuk Liaw Choon Liang said the gas price increase, which will increase by an average of 11.7%, or RM2.03 per million metric British thermal unit (MMBtu) from July 1, is “not welcoming.”
