Gas price hike impact on manufacturers who cannot pass on cost to consumers

Top Glove Corp Bhd chairman Tan Sri Lim Wee Chai(inset) said the price hike would affect the sector and estimates an increase of 10% on its gas cost, with less than 1% on total manufacturing cost.

PETALING JAYA: The hike in natural gas tariffs is likely to put pressure on manufacturers who cannot immediately pass the cost on to the customer.

According to industry observers, Malaysian industries are, by a large margin, the largest users of gas. So, should there be a gas price increase, they are the ones most likely to feel its effects.
