Jamal declines to be re-elected

Icon has given a six-month leave of absence to Jamal(pic) and his brother, who is the chief operating officer of Icon, to enable them to focus on assisting investigations by the MACC. MACC is investigating alleged corrupt practices in Icon, a company whose major shareholder is Ekuiti Nasional Bhd with 42.3%.

KUALA LUMPUR: Icon Offshore Bhd chief executive officer Dr Jamal Yusof, who is assisting the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in investigations into the company’s affairs, has withdrawn his offer to be re-elected to the board of the oil and gas services provider.

Icon chairman Raja Tan Sri Arshad Uda said the company received a letter from Jamal before the annual general meeting (AGM) yesterday on his request not to be re-elected as a director.
