Regional economic corridors to spur economic growth


IN the 11th Malaysia Plan, efforts will be undertaken to accelerate investment, improve infrastructure and review the regional economic corridor master plans to realise the investment of RM236bil and create 470,000 jobs by 2020.

The priority sectors include the creative cluster in Iskandar Malaysia; the automotive and aeronautics industries in the Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER); the petrochemical industries in the existing industrial parks of the East Coast Economic Region (ECER); tourism and palm oil downstream processing in the Sabah Development Corridor (SDC); as well as energy-intensive industries including aluminium, steel and glass in the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE).
