HANOI: Vietnam devalued the dong for the second time this year yesterday to spur exports and curb demand for imports that has left it with a hefty trade deficit.
Given the recent relative strength of the currency, the move was widely expected, especially after the export-led economy recorded a US$3bil trade deficit in the first four months of 2015, compared with a US$2bil surplus in the same period a year before.
