PAC should not wait for Auditor-General

Nur Jazlan admits that the scrutiny on PAC has heightened in the last two weeks.

UNTIL the end of last month, Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed, as chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), stayed away from any form of auditing works in relation to 1Malaysia Development Board (1MDB). The responsibility was solely with the Auditor-General, Tan Sri Ambrin Buang.

The line of reporting was supposed to be in the following sequence – Ambrin on completing the audit of 1MDB will present it to the PAC. The committee that also has the Opposition as members, questions the Auditor-General and scrutinises the report. Assuming the report is accepted, the details will be disclosed to the public.
